Moving on, moving out or moving up?

For Business Owners at critical inflection points

A Thinking Partner supporting you during those important phases, when a big move- on, out or up- is pending.

You will already have good people around you — an experienced leadership team, a trusted accountant, bankers with history, maybe even a board and lawyers when you need them. In contrast to other business consultants and leadership coaches, I act in the way a non executive chairman would, ensuring that critical, often irreversible decisions are made with you methodically, carefully, with great deliberation, sensitivity and consultation. I am the one voice in the room whose primary focus is your best interest. I bring a fresh perspective, an unbiased opinion, years of experience in navigating complex strategic challenges and a powerful network of relevant experts.

Engagements run quarterly. Ninety-five per cent of them fall between €280,000 and €600,000 a year.

How I help

01

An independent unbiased, outside perspective

You can’t read the label from inside the jar. I’m on the outside — I can tell you what it says and how it looks and recognize problems and patterns.

02

Ensuring that the math is mathing

The financial assumptions and implications of critical, strategic decisions have to make sense and be stress tested. I think like an investor, because I am one and as one of the best corporate finance bankers i know likes to say, "The Math has to math".

03

Access to an invaluable Network

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Knowing who to call for insights, connections and valuable resources is mission critical. I have a large and well thumbed Rolodex, which is at your full disposal.

Most inflection point decisions fall into one of three categories. Which one is on your desk?

Why it matters

“Some decisions are consequential and irreversible or nearly irreversible, and these decisions must be made methodically, carefully, slowly, with great deliberation and consultation.”

“If you don't like what you see on the other side, you can't get back to where you were before. We can call these Type 1 decisions. But most decisions aren't like that — they are changeable, reversible.”

~ Jeff Bezos

Almost everything you decide can be revisited. Try it, look at what happens, change course if it was wrong. Those decisions should be made fast, and mostly without me.

Succession. Exit. The growth step that changes the shape of the business. Those are critical inflection points, for private business owners and they are the decisions I am best suited to work on.

If you are at a critical inflection point

If one of these is on your desk, or you can sense it coming, an hour in confidence usually gets you further than a month of circling it alone.
